Onur Engin sure knows how to pick 'em! Hot on the heels of his stellar jazz funk edits (see Onur Engin Edits Vol. 6 on the site) comes this double A-side of soul funk edits on GAMM. Everyone knows Kool & The Gang's ubiquitous jam "Summer Madness" and here Onur gives it a loving re-rub, looping up key parts for easy mixing, and filtering it out on the lush slow disco tip. When the recognizable melody finally comes in it's like watching a beautiful sunrise on the beach, you just can't front on it! On the flip he adds a bit of edit magic to James Mason's soul jazz classic "Sweet Power" transforming the already monster cut into a stomping dancefloor heater. Well recommended.
