Using A Turntable With Sonos *UPDATED

Using A Turntable With Sonos *UPDATED

➳ Can you use a turntable with Sonos? YES. Here's the basics to get you plugged in and playing.

1.0 Can You Use A Turntable With Sonos?

Yes, all turntables will work with Sonos.

2.0 I am new to turntables and vinyl, is there anything I should know before setting up the system?

1) You must first determine if your turntable has a built-in preamp (more on this below).
2) If it does have a built-in preamp, you can plug directly into a Sonos system.
3) If it DOES NOT have a built-in preamp, you will need to plug your turntable into a preamp, then into your Sonos system.

A phono preamp converts your turntable output signal to be able to work with Sonos' inputs. A preamp turns a PHONO signal into an AUX signal.

If your turntable does NOT have a preamp built-in:
1) connect your turntable to a phono preamp
2) connect the output of your phono preamp to your Sonos system (details below)

3.0 Visual Cheat Sheet

4.0 Will I need additional cables?

4.1 If your turntable has a built-in preamp and you have Amp or Connect:Amp, you won’t need additional cables.

4.2 If your turntable DOES NOT have a built-in preamp, you’ll need a stereo RCA cable to connect a preamp to Amp or Connect:Amp. Here are some recommendations:
➳ Midrange: Audioquest Tower RCA Cable
➳ Deluxe (Our Pick): Audioquest Evergreen Audio Interconnect
➳ High-end: Kimber Kable Tonik Audio Interconnect

4.3 If you have Connect, you won’t need an additional cable (stereo RCA cable and Y-Cable are included with Connect).

4.4 If your turntable has a built-in preamp and you have Play:5, you’ll need to connect a Y-Adaptor or female Y-Cable (female RCA to 1/8” stereo) to your turntable’s male RCA cable. Here are some recommendations:
Audioquest Hard Mini / RCA Adaptor
Audioquest FLX-Mini Female Y-Cable

4.5 If your turntable DOES NOT have a built-in preamp and you have Play:5, you’ll need to connect a Y-Cable to your preamp’s RCA output. Here are some recommendations:
